THE Afri-CAN CAFE HAS BECOME A SOCIAL HUB FOR THE COMMUNITY

There is a lack of training and employment in South African townships.
2 in 3 people under the age of 24 are out of work.
This age group represents 20% of the population.

The Afri-CAN Cafés are branded cafés and bakeries, made from disused shipping containers.
The Cafés become more beneficial to the communities as local participation increases.

Local teams create the Café menus and convert the shipping containers.
Local supplies, ingredients, security and services are used.

10 people are employed on a part-time and full-time basis.
Part-time roles enable students and mothers to have flexible working hours.
We train each Staff Member on the job.
They can later move to organisations in other industries using the skills they learned.

We aim to inspire a sense of social standing and pride in their achievements both as individuals and members of a team.

The Cafés provide employment and access to quality food for the locals.
But most importantly they become a social focal point for the whole community.
