100 more children benefitting from the Free School Breakfasts program

Starting next month, four new crèches and 100 more children in South Africa will benefit from the Free School Breakfasts program run by the Afri-CAN Charity.

Teachers at Masikhule, Cebolethu, Masiphumelele and Nkosi Educare Centres, each of which takes care of approximately 25 children aged 3 to 7 years, will receive a daily nourishing breakfast to offer their pupils, in a bid to improve their nutrition, energy and attention levels.

The addition of these four crèches will bring the number of free school breakfasts served daily by the Café up to 110 – A small, but crucial step on the Afri-CAN Charity’s mammoth expedition – The University of Cape Town’s African Food Security Unit Network has assessed that over 12 million South Africans suffer chronic hunger and malnutrition, many of them children under the age of ten.

With this in mind, the Afri-CAN Charity continues to strive to contribute to the schools in the local communities by providing children with the most important meal of the day.
