Afri-CAN Café’s Free School Breakfasts program continues to grow

From the 1st of February, another crèche will join the Free School Breakfasts program, offered by the Afri-CAN Charity in Cape Town.

25 children aged 3 – 7 years attending the Nkosi Educare Centre will benefit from a free daily nutritious breakfast prepared by the Afri-CAN Café team, helping fuel their minds and bodies for an exciting day of learning and play.

The number of underdeveloped children continues to grow in South Africa, with Oxfam estimating that about 25% of South African children currently suffer from prolonged lack of nutrition. These shocking facts are the catalyst behind the Afri-CAN Café’s Free School Breakfasts program, which to-date since August 2014 has served over 9,500 breakfasts to those most in need.

The crèche’s Principal, Daisy Tomsane and teachers, Nocawe Nkefane and Mavis Sopali expressed their delight at the news and look forward to having more energetic, receptive pupils ready to receive a good education.
