WE ARE GIVING YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE PART OF A MOVEMENT
CRITICAL TO THE GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN IN SOUTH AFRICAN TOWNSHIPS.

By giving as little as R10 (ZAR) per breakfast per child a day,
you can help us get to our target 1,000,000 free school breakfasts each year.

WHY FREE BREAKFASTS?

MALNUTRITION is a major underlying cause of death in 64% of South Africa’s children under the age of five.

ONE IN FIVE children are stunted and many are deficient in the vitamins and minerals vital to good health and optimal development, the organisation claimed.

UNICEF found that 11.4% of deaths of South African children under five can be attributed to low weight, making low birth weight the second most prominent cause of children’s death in South Africa.

To tackle this important issue we created the Afri-CAN Charity Free School Breakfasts program.

We currently serve around 350,000 free school breakfasts a year to vulnerable children between the ages of 1 to 6.
We’re going to grow this to 1,000,000.

HEALTH

30g raw natural oats (no salt and soaked overnight)

LOVE

A child’s brain function is seriously compromised without a healthy breakfast

TIME

Children fed well at the very early stage of their lives have the best chance to fulfil their full potential.

“Our aim is to ensure that every child in need between 1-6 years old  has a healthy low GI breakfast every school day morning during this key foundation phase of their brain development. We want them to be warm, dry and safe and be surrounded by amazing teachers who help them develop healthily so that by the time they are in front of that blackboard in Grade R they are ready to learn.  ”
