The Afri-CAN Café Expansion Continues

11th April 2011, Malawi—The Afri-CAN Café Cooperative Charity is pleased to announce its continuing expansion programme.

A further two Afri-CAN Cafés are now undergoing conversion in Malawi, with another two to follow post completion.

Stefan Allesch-Taylor, Afri-CAN Café spokesman said ‘We have commissioned two Cafés, with two to follow. Clearly a challenge relates to the sourcing and pricing of the containers themselves in a country like Malawi, fortunately Jessica Donnelly puts boots on the ground until she finds them. Direct staff numbers will rise by another 12 – 18 and the economic layering benefit to all those involved in the conversion and supply chain strengthens.’

Jessica and Lisa Veber recently returned from an Afri-CAN Café Malawi training week and took the opportunity to focus on helping the senior team in country secure the licences required. The local governments support remains a crucial ingredient to The Afri-CAN Cafés success.

Jessica Donnelly said ‘Progress never comes fast enough for us, but it is great news we can move forward. Of course we are going to be spreading operations out to a 4 hour travelling distance, which requires the replication of the current infrastructure and operations, which we are comfortable we can now do.’
