The first Afri-CAN Café turns a profit

The Afri‐CAN Café Co‐operative Charity (‘ACC’) reports that the Afri‐CAN Café at Kamuzu Central in Lilongwe, Malawi has achieved profitability after five months of trading.

Stefan Allesch‐Taylor, Afri‐CAN Cafés spokesman said ‘Starting any new business is a challenge, but the team at Kamuza were faced with tougher ones than most. A new business, a new brand, new products, new supply chain, fresh from training themselves and a new environment culminated in serious hurdles. The result within this timescale is a tremendous credit to the Staff Members and we are really thrilled for everyone – a huge thanks too to our customers!’

The Afri‐CAN Café Co‐operative Charity is rolling out branded, identical Cafes throughout sub‐Saharan Africa as part of a single network. All donations and profits are used to create supply chains, create new Cafes and to support the Staff Members with either bonuses from profits generated or educational support and healthcare support for their families where applicable. 100% of all profits and income are used to help the Co‐operative grow, become stronger and support the Staff Members.
