Lilongwe, Malawi, 12th October 2010. The Afri‐CAN Café is pleased to announce the purchase of the very first Afri‐CAN Café Co‐operative car, a 2000 Toyota Spacio.
The new four door car will serve as a vital tool in the operations of the Cafés. The car is for ‘universal’ deliveries, including the stock shopping for the Central and Bwaila Hospital Cafés. Not only does the vehicle help with the transportation of supplies, it also provides transportation, for Staff Members of the Café to get home in good time and safely.
Stefan Allesch‐Taylor, spokesman for The Afri‐CAN Café said, “We thought long and hard about buying a car, but the reasons were compelling, not least staff members were working hard and occasionally missing the last bus—which meant a two hour walk home. The car ensures that they get home timely, comfortably and safely.”
